Vincent D’Onofrio, perhaps best known for his role as a serial killer in the surreal horror film The Cell, has been cast as the villain Kingpin for the Netflix original series Daredevil. The part, which was previously played by late actor Micheal Clark Duncan, has been described by Netflix as “a powerful businessman whose interests in the future of Hell’s Kitchen will bring him into conflict with the blind attorney Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil.”
Daredevil is the first of 4 original Netflix series based on Marvel properties, the others (Luke Cage, Jessica, Jones, Iron Fist) will come together for a 5th series called “The Defenders” in a move reminiscent to what Marvel did with the Avengers.
Daredevil is produced by Showrunner Steven S, DeKnight (Spartacus) and Director Drew Goddard (Cabin in The Woods). It also stars Charlie Cox (Boardwalk Empire) as Lawyer Matt Murdock and his titular crime fighting alter ego.
