We wrote before about the troubled state of (previously) NBC series Community, the cult favorite sitcom from Dan Harmon (Rick and Morty, Harmon Town) that somehow squeaked out 5 seasons before getting axed from the schedule by NBC. But the times have changed, and Community has found new life from an unlikely source. Today it was announced that Community has been picked up for a 13 episode 6th season by Yahoo’s new streaming service Yahoo Screen. The current cast has re-signed for the season, though no word yet on Donald Glover (who plays Troy), whose character left the show for a seafaring adventure last season.
” I vow to dominate our new competition.” Said Harmon in a statement today. ” Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!”
For years the words “Six Seasons and a Movie” has become a sort of mantra for the series. Originating as a joke about NBC’s short lived series The Cape which Community character Abed became obsessed with, expressing that the ideal run of a series is 6 seasons and a movie.
Community is now one movie shy of its mantra.
