Variety reports that WGNs promotional efforts for their upcoming series Manhattan will take the form of an educational special that talks to scientists and former residents of the shows setting, Los Alamos, New Mexico. The special will, of course, also feature, cast and crew of the upcoming series.
It is an interesting take on promoting a series with such a fascinatingly dramatic setting. Manhattan follows the development of the world’s first nuclear bomb, which, beyond acting as a devastating weapon of war, became a fearful symbol of scientific advancement.
Besides the special, marketing will also include “extensive” outdoor and indoor advertising, including the following dramatic poster.
Manhattan is produced by Sam Shaw (Masters of Sex) and Thomas Schlamme (The West Wing, The Americans), and stars Ashley Zukerman and Rachel Brosnahan as a married couple dealing with the secrecy and isolation of the heavily guarded temporary town in the middle of the desert. The special will air on the 4th of July on WGN, with the series premiering on July 27th
