Several new series and TV projects have been announced at this Years San Diego Comic Con.
First, HBO announced a new sports mocumentary called Seven Days in Hell. The HBO original comedy movie stars Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine Nine) and Kit Harington (Game of Thrones) as tennis rivals locked in an epic 7 day match at Wimbledon. The star studded cast also includes Fred Armisen (Portlandia), Lena Dunham (Girls), Will Forte (Saturday Night Live), Karen Gillan (Doctor Who), Howie Mandel (America’s Got Talent), Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex), and Mary Steenburgen (Back to the Future III).
Amazon has added 2 new pilots to their ever expanding pilot project. The Man in the High Castle (based on the book by Philip K. Dick) is a drama series that takes place in an alternate 1962 where Nazi Germany and Japan were victorious in World War II. Just Add Magic is a show about a group of 12 year old girls who discover a magical cookbook (don’t know about you, but I simply cannot wait).
AMC has ordered White City, a new series that takes place in modern Afghanistan. “It’s not a war story,” said AMC’s Joel Stillerman, “it’s a character story that will tackle some of the most complicated issues of our time.”
Cinemax will be bringing Robert Kirkman’s (The Walking Dead) Outcast to TV. The series based on Kirkman’s comic book is about demons, demonic possession, and exorcism.
