Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD largely failed to live up to its own potential last season, as we recently discussed. One of the biggest complaints fans had for the show was that it didn’t make enough use of the rich catalog of content Marvel had to offer. At San Diego Comic Con, producers and stars of the show promised improvements for season 2. Now, weeks later, 2 new castings have been revealed for the series, both characters found in Marvel’s comic book universe.
Adrianne Palicki (Supernatural, Friday Night Lights) has been cast as Bobbi Morse. Morse, also known as Mockingbird, will be an adversarial SHIELD agent for Coulson and his crew. In the comics, Mockingbird is a love interest for the Tarzan-esque Ka-Zar, and is eventually treated with a variant of the serum used to enhance Steve Rogers (Captain America).
Brian Patrick Wade (Teen Wolf, The Big Bang Theory) will be portraying Supervillain Carl “Crusher” Creel, who is also known as The Absorbing Man. In the Comics, Carl Creel drinks a liquid that Loki laced with rare Asgardian ingredients. This gives him the ability to adsorb the traits of anything he touches.
