Hollywood Director David Fincher (Fight Club) has been saying a lot in the last week or so while promoting his new movie Gone Girl. Fincher had been attached to an HBO adaptation of the British conspiracy series Utopia (not to be confused with the American reality TV show), which earned a place on our lists of the best British series not available in North America. Now it seems that Fincher plans to direct every episode of his adaptation (which will almost certainly be renamed to avoid confusion with the reality TV series of the same name in America) of the brilliant UK show.
“I like the world of it, I like the characters – I love Dennis’ honesty and affinity for the nerds.” He said in an interview with the Guardian, “I mean, I’ve always been a bit of a junior conspiracy theorist cos I don’t have time to connect them all! But it’s nice to see that somebody has.”
The HBO adaptation of Utopia will be written by Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn, who worked with Fincher on his recent film adaptation of her book.
Fincher is also working on a Noir series for HBO with Author James Ellroy (LA Confidential).
