When actor Philip Seymour Hoffman passed away earlier this year, he left several unfinished projects behind. One of those projects, a half hour comedy series at Showtime called Happyish, is set to continue without the iconic actor. Showtime has hired Comedian/Actor Steve Coogan (Tropic Thunder) to fill the role of Thomas Payne, a 44 year old man who must cope with the reality of his new young boss.
Happyish comes to us from Author and Essayist Shalom Auslander. “Steve’s range is astounding,” said Auslander about the casting, “he is a comedy legend, a gifted satirist, and he possesses the unique combination of talents this role demands.”
Hoffman had been suffering from severe drug addiction from a young age. Though he had been public about his struggles, friends, family, and fans were shocked when he turned up dead, the result of a complex cocktail of drugs found in his system, including cocaine and heroin. Philip Seymour Hoffman was 46.
