Deadline is reporting that Fox TV group chairman Gary Newman has confirmed that the network is in talks to bring X-Files back to television after the success of it’s 24 revival Live Another Day. Fox is looking to bring back original series stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny but the network says talks are still in an early stage as they’re trying to find a time when the two stars are available as well as series creator Chris Carter.
The X-Files originally aired on Fox on September 10th 1993 it focused on special agents Mulder and Scully working marginalized cases within the FBI involving purported paranormal phenomena. Mulder was a believer in the paranormal while Scully was a skeptic assigned to debunk Mulder’s theories. The show ran for nine seasons on Fox before it ended on May 19th 2002. The show started as a cult hit but by the end of it’s run it had become a pop culture milestone.
