Powers producer Brian Michael Bendis has announced on the PlayStation Blog that Powers will debut on the PlayStation Network March 10th. The first three episodes will debut on that date with a new episode every week. In contrast to Netflix’s and Amazon’s practice of releasing every episode at once. The first episode of Powers will be free to everyone and subsequent episodes will have to be purchased individually unless you have a PlayStation Plus subscription in which case all episodes are free.
Powers is based on the Brian Michael Bendis comic of the same name and features a world full of superheroes. When one popular hero is murdered it is up to a normal detective and his partner to solve the crime and catch the killer. Powers marks Sony’s first foray into original programming for it’s PlayStation platform. It’s success will likely determine whether or not Sony decides to become a major player in the fast growing online original programming segment.
