The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Amazon has optioned Bream Gives Me the Hiccups a half hour comedy based on stories written by Jesse Eisenberg. Eisenberg wrote the script and will executive produce. Breen focuses on a 9 year old restaurant critic who goes to various restaurants with his alcoholic mother. He reviews everything often with his friend Matthew.
Eisenberg has written 12 in the series of stories which began in 2012 in McSweeny’s. Bream will mark the Oscar nominee’s first television writing credit. Amazon has been aggressively competing with chief rival Netflix as both scramble to produce original content in order to make their services more attractive to consumers. Breen will likely end up as part of a future Amazon pilot season. Where Amazon let’s it’s customers decide what series ends up on their service. A unique approach to developing series which allows Amazon to predict what will be hits on it’s service more accurately.
