IGN is reporting that James Franco has been cast as the lead in the new Hulu orginal miniseries 11/22/1963. Based on the 2011 novel by Stephen King 11/22/63 centers on a high school English teacher Epping (to be played by James Franco) who travels back in time in order to stop the assassination of president John F Kennedy though his mission is threatened by Lee Harvey Oswald as he attempts to prevent the errors of the past.
Franco will produce alongside Bryan Burk and J.J Abrams for Warner Bros television and Bad Robot productions. The move to a web only miniseries is a surprising one for Franco who is an established film star and is still riding a wave of buzz from his latest project The Interview which had been the subject of much controversy over the past holiday season. Hulu has not officially set a release date for the new miniseries but it is expected sometime in 2015.
