Sony’s new series Powers is historic as the first full length original series to be distributed through a video game platform. In order to hook in new viewers, Sony has made the first episode freely available through various sources, including Youtube. This means that, for the first time, we at TVEnthusiast can embed an entire episode of a TV series in an article. So, of course, we did.
Powers follows 2 detectives who investigate crimes related to superpowers. The hook? One of them used to have powers himself. The series is based on a comic book series of the same name by Brian Michael Bendis, and has been in and out of development for a long time before Sony decided to distribute the series through their video game console. The original cast of the series was to include Jason Patrick (The Lost Boys), and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) actively campaigned for the female lead. The version of the series that is now available through Sony’s Playstation Plus service stars Sharlto Copley (District 9).
