Hulu has just picked up a series commitment for Myst based on the classic 1990’s computer game according to Deadline. Hailing from Legendary Television, producer Matt Tolmach and writer Evan Daugherty the series will be a blend of Science Fiction and fantasy exploring the origins of the island Myst wherein a man wakes up on the mysterious island with no clue how he got there and must find a way to escape.
Myst was a popular PC game in the 1990’s that eschewed typical action games of the time for a more relaxed puzzle based experience. Wherein players thinking skills were challenged rather than their reflexes. Hulu landed the new series after it had garnered interest from multiple buyers. Hulu has been stepping up it’s efforts to compete as a premium streaming service lately with other upcoming original series such as 11/22/63 from J.J. Abrams and Jason Reitman’s Casual as well as picking up the rights to Seinfeld and AMC’s entire future slate.
