This year at Comic Con AMC gave us a closer look at their new spinoff to The Walking Dead entitled Fear the Walking Dead including a new trailer for the series set to debut this August. Along with the trailer a lot of new info from the show was revealed and it was also discussed how the show was different from The Walking Dead.
- The characters in Fear are more ordinary, For example Travis the main character is a schoolteacher with no weapons or survival training as opposed to being a sheriff
- Since the show takes place during the beginning of the apocalypse Zombies look more human and less decomposed. “You still see a bit of life in their eyes”
- The show’s focus is on this highly dysfunctional blended family barely holding it together and how the apocalypse effects that dynamic
- The two shows won’t cross over (at least for now) “There are no plans right now to conflate the two stories, as interesting as that might be.”
All in all it seems AMC is determined to bring us a Zombie drama that feels familiar but is ultimately wholly different from the network’s current mega hit. Whether or not they succeed remains to be seen.
