David Wenham (The Lord of the Rings) has been cast in Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series Marvel’s Iron Fist. The actor will be portraying Harold Meachum, a partner of Danny Rand’s late parents, and ruthless businessman. Wenham joins Finn Jones (Game of Thrones), who plays Danny rand/Iron Fist and Jessica Henwick (Game of Thrones) who plays Colleen Wing.
Based on the popular comic book character, Marvel’s Iron Fist follows a privileged son who discovers and masters a magical form of martial arts. The series is the 4th individual series developed by Marvel and Netflix in their The Defenders plan. Previous series int he deal included Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the upcoming Luke Cage.
In addition, Marvel has a new series in development at cable network Freeform. Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger follows the interracial couple of Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, who discover they have opposing super powers.
Freeform, formerly known as ABC Family is owned by Disney, who also owns Marvel. Freeform’s sister network ABC is home to Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Marvel’s Agent Carter, and 2 upcoming series, Marvel’s Most Wanted, and Marvel’s Damage Control.
